About Eritrean Postal Service

Eritrean Postal Service operates within the legal and regulatory framework enshrined in the communications Proclamation No. 102/1998.  Eritrean Postal Service is a designated Public Operator in the country, which is charged with the responsibility to perform all or any functions relating to the operation and provision of postal services in Eritrea.

Eritrean Postal Service has the mandate to develop, operate and maintain postal network which provides postal services in different parts of the country and other services as determined by the Communications Department from time to time. According to the governing legislation, Eritrean Postal Service can also be allowed to operate some financial services on its own account or on behalf of the government and other non-government agencies.

Eritrea became member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1993.
